Centipede & Millipede Control in Eugene
Centipede & Millipede Control Starts with Moisture & Entry Points
Effective control starts by identifying how these moisture-associated pests are reaching the property and what conditions are supporting them. Ultimate Pest Control provides residential and commercial pest control in Eugene using integrated pest management, which considers both active pests and the environmental factors contributing to their presence. Online scheduling is available.
Our family-owned company has served property owners since 2009. We bring more than 30 years of combined industry experience to each job, and our technicians train continuously in pest identification, treatment methods, and safety practices. We inspect damp subfloor areas, basements, foundation gaps, and exterior hiding places that may contribute to indoor activity.

How to Identify Centipedes & Millipedes
Centipedes and millipedes have elongated, segmented bodies, but their movement, leg arrangement, and behavior distinguish them. Correct identification helps us determine whether indoor activity may be connected to moisture, exterior harborage, entry points, or another insect issue.
Common identification characteristics include:
- Centipedes: They have one pair of legs per body segment, move rapidly, and can bite when handled or threatened. Adults are usually brownish and more than 1 inch long.
- Millipedes: They have two or four pairs of legs per body segment, move slowly, and commonly curl up when disturbed or resting. Depending on the type, they may measure from 1/2 inch to 6 1/2 inches long.
Millipedes don’t damage buildings or belongings indoors and pose a minimal health hazard. They feed on decaying organic matter and generally enter structures after developing in moist exterior areas.
Centipedes also aren’t considered destructive structural pests. Outdoors, they prey on insects. Continued indoor activity can indicate that other household insects are providing a food source, so our inspection looks beyond the centipedes immediately visible.
Moisture, Harborage & Foundation Entry Points
Excess moisture below a building and in basements can support millipede activity. Drying these areas may make them less favorable, while sealing cracks and other exterior openings can reduce indoor entry. Our technicians inspect for accessible gaps and signs of pest activity.
Conditions outside the building matter as well. Rotting wood, decaying grass, fallen leaves, mulch, and similar organic material can hold moisture near the foundation. Reducing this debris near the structure can make the area less hospitable to millipedes.
An inspection may focus on:
- Subfloor moisture and damp basement areas
- Cracks, foundation gaps, damaged vents, and other exterior openings
- Leaves, mulch, rotting wood, and organic debris beside the foundation
- Other insect activity that may attract predatory centipedes
When findings call for structural work, we can perform exclusion repairs that seal physical gaps used by pests and animals. We also provide crawl space sanitation and insulation services when an inspection identifies damaged or contaminated materials that need removal and replacement. We recommend these services according to the property’s condition, not simply because a centipede or millipede was found.
Our Eugene Centipede & Millipede Control Process
Our insect-control process moves from the first conversation through inspection, treatment, prevention guidance, and follow-up. Recommendations depend on the identified pest, conditions around the property, and household or animal considerations.
Consultation & Inspection
We begin by discussing where, when, and how often you’ve noticed activity. A home inspection evaluates the reported problem and looks for signs of insects, rodents, and wildlife. These inspections typically take 45 minutes to 1 hour, while attic and crawl space inspections have a fee.
Interior & Exterior Treatment
Standard treatments include interior and exterior service and usually take approximately 1 hour. We use biodegradable materials approved by the Environmental Protection Agency and Oregon Department of Agriculture for standard treatments. Before application, our technician explains the proposed plan and products so you can review the approach.
Education & Prevention
We explain prevention measures based on the inspection findings. For millipedes, these may include reducing moisture below the building, moving decaying organic material away from the foundation, and addressing openings that permit indoor entry. Exclusion recommendations are tied to the gaps and vulnerabilities we find.
Follow-Up Support
Ongoing pest control is available through monthly, bi-monthly, or quarterly service plans. Monthly and bi-monthly plans include rodent control. If pests return between scheduled visits, we provide a free follow-up service.
Treatment Options for People, Pets & Livestock
We offer conventional treatments and green options, reviewing the available choices before applying products. We can adapt outdoor strategies around dogs, cats, chickens, goats, and honeybees. Treatment selection depends on the inspection results and the rules or animal considerations for your property.
Our technicians are licensed, bonded, and insured. We offer free estimates, same-day appointments, and emergency service availability when pest activity requires a prompt response. Our contact form includes space to describe the affected area before we respond.

Wildlife

Wildlife are those animals that are not tame; their "wild" nature makes them difficult to control when they choose to make our properties into their home. Wild animals can survive on their own without the help of people. As we have come to live closer to or within their natural habitat, they have discovered that our properties and the food and shelter they provide make their lives easier, and they won't hesitate to take advantage!
Some of the most common wild animals that often infiltrate our properties include:
- Bats
- Birds
- Gophers
- Ground squirrels
- Moles
- Nutria
- Possums
- Raccoons
- Squirrels
- Voles
Wild animals tend to be destructive because, in order to survive, they have learned to do whatever is necessary to gain access to food and safe shelter. They dig up gardens and lawns in our yards, tear through siding, burrow under foundations, and tip over trash cans. In addition to causing damage, wild animals can be dangerous; they spread diseases that can make us ill, spread parasites, and if they feel threatened, may bite or scratch.
Many wild animals will stay outside around our yards, while others will find a way into our homes to take advantage of the safe shelter it provides. Attics, chimneys, and wall voids are the most common places to discover wild animals.
If wildlife has become a problem on your property, reach out to Ultimate Pest Control, LLC for help identifying, eliminating, and preventing their return. To further help you protect your Oregon property against wildlife, we want to provide you with our most practical wildlife prevention tips.
