Stink Bug Control

Stink Bug Control in Eugene

Integrated Pest Management for Seasonal Stink Bug Activity

Stink bugs often gather on sunny exterior walls before slipping through small gaps around windows, vents, soffits, and rooflines. Once inside, they may overwinter in attics, wall voids, and other protected spaces. Crushing or disturbing them can release the odor that gives these insects their name.

We provide residential and commercial stink bug control based on careful pest identification and a thorough inspection of the property. Our integrated pest management approach combines targeted control with practical measures to reduce access to the building.

How to Identify Stink Bugs Around Your Property

Oregon has multiple stink bug species, so not every shield-shaped insect is a brown marmorated stink bug. Accurate identification helps us distinguish them from other stink bug species and seasonal invaders such as boxelder bugs.

Brown marmorated stink bugs typically have smooth shoulders and light bands on their antennae. Rough stink bugs have more noticeably toothed shoulders, while boxelder bugs have dark bodies with contrasting red or orange markings. Seasonal activity may appear around windows, ornamental plants, warm exterior walls, or indoor living and working areas.

Most stink bugs found around buildings are nuisance pests. Brown marmorated stink bugs can also feed on fruits, vegetables, nuts, and ornamental plants, so correct identification is especially important when activity extends beyond the structure.

Our Stink Bug Inspection & Treatment Approach

Our inspection looks beyond the insects currently in view. We assess where activity is occurring, how the pests may be entering, and which building conditions could contribute to continued problems.

A stink bug assessment may include:

  • Confirming the insect: We identify the pest before recommending a course of action.
  • Checking congregation areas: We examine locations where stink bugs gather on or around the building.
  • Locating entry points: We look for accessible gaps around windows, doors, siding seams, utility penetrations, vents, soffits, and roofline transitions.
  • Reviewing property conditions: We determine whether the activity is indoors, outdoors, or affecting both areas.
  • Discussing control options: We explain the proposed plan, available products, and applicable preparation instructions before treatment.

Our recommendations depend on the identified species, activity location, building condition, nearby vegetation, and time of year. We offer conventional treatments and completely green options, and we explain how the selected products work. You’ll receive straightforward pricing before work begins and notes describing the treatments completed.

Exclusion Repairs for Recurring Stink Bug Activity

Visible stink bugs may be only part of the problem. Small exterior openings can give these seasonal pests access to sheltered spaces, where they may remain out of sight until indoor temperatures change.

We can address structural vulnerabilities identified during service. Depending on our findings, priorities may include repairing damaged screens or vents, sealing cracks around windows and doors, closing utility penetrations, and blocking accessible exterior gaps. We can also discuss applicable exclusion repairs instead of limiting service to insects already in view.

Exclusion can reduce access to protected areas, but surrounding vegetation, weather, and seasonal pest movement may affect future activity. Preventive work is often most useful before large numbers enter the structure.

Safety-Conscious Service for Homes & Businesses

Every treatment plan should reflect how the property is used. We consider household members, employees, pets, livestock, sensitive areas, and food-handling spaces when discussing your options. We can also provide any applicable instructions for preparation, access, ventilation, or re-entry.

Our technicians provide residential and commercial pest control throughout Eugene and surrounding Lane County communities. Same-day appointments and emergency assistance are available when scheduling permits, so you can reach us quickly if activity suddenly increases.

Wildlife Library

  • Wildlife

    Squirrel on a wood fence

Wildlife are those animals that are not tame; their "wild" nature makes them difficult to control when they choose to make our properties into their home. Wild animals can survive on their own without the help of people. As we have come to live closer to or within their natural habitat, they have discovered that our properties and the food and shelter they provide make their lives easier, and they won't hesitate to take advantage!

Some of the most common wild animals that often infiltrate our properties include:

    • Bats
    • Birds
    • Gophers
    • Ground squirrels
    • Moles
    • Nutria
    • Possums
    • Raccoons
    • Squirrels
    • Voles

Wild animals tend to be destructive because, in order to survive, they have learned to do whatever is necessary to gain access to food and safe shelter. They dig up gardens and lawns in our yards, tear through siding, burrow under foundations, and tip over trash cans. In addition to causing damage, wild animals can be dangerous; they spread diseases that can make us ill, spread parasites, and if they feel threatened, may bite or scratch.

Many wild animals will stay outside around our yards, while others will find a way into our homes to take advantage of the safe shelter it provides. Attics, chimneys, and wall voids are the most common places to discover wild animals.

If wildlife has become a problem on your property, reach out to Ultimate Pest Control, LLC for help identifying, eliminating, and preventing their return. To further help you protect your Oregon property against wildlife, we want to provide you with our most practical wildlife prevention tips.

    • Eliminate sources of water in your yard and around your home.
    • Repair damage to your siding, windows, shingles, and chimney.
    • Fill in holes that develop in your yard and near the foundation.
    • Regularly harvest fruits and vegetables from gardens; if possible, install a fence around garden areas.
    • Keep locking lids on trash cans and compost bins.
    • Cut tree branches back from your roofline.
